Genoa have reportedly entered the race to sign Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare from Wolverhampton Wanderers, with the Serie A side hoping to beat Fiorentina to his signature.
Arokodare, who scored six goals and provided two assists in 38 games during the 2025/26 season for Wolves, has attracted interest from several clubs this summer following his team’s relegation to the Championship.
The 25-year-old was initially linked with a move to Trabzonspor, who submitted a proposal to sign him. However, the Nigerian forward was not interested in a switch to the Turkish Super Lig, preventing the deal from progressing.
Fiorentina then emerged as the leading contenders for Arokodare’s signature, but their opening offer was rejected by Wolves. The Italian club later returned with an improved proposal, reportedly a loan deal that included a €22 million purchase clause.

With negotiations still ongoing, Genoa believe they have an opportunity to hijack the transfer and secure the services of the Nigerian international. The club, who finished 16th in Serie A last season, are looking to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
With the new Serie A season set to begin in a month’s time, both Genoa and Fiorentina will be eager to reach an agreement with Wolves as they continue building squads capable of competing in the Italian top flight.
Before joining Wolves, Arokodare established himself as one of the standout forwards in the Belgian Pro League, registering 41 goals and eight assists in 113 appearances for Genk. The striker will now be hoping his next move provides the platform to rediscover his best form.
