Super Eagles defender Emmanuel Fernandez has underlined his ambition after winning Player of the Year at Rangers FC, stressing that his mission at the club goes beyond individual recognition.

‎Fernandez claimed the honour after an impressive first campaign in Scotland. He made 29 appearances and scored six goals in all competitions. He also featured in the UEFA Europa League, marking a rapid step up in level.

‎His consistency made him a key figure in the squad. Supporters recognised that influence by voting him as the club’s best player.

‎Reacting to the award via his Instagram account, Fernandez expressed pride but kept his focus on the bigger objective. He said:
‎”When I signed for this club, I knew what it meant, the badge, the history, the supporters who travel everywhere with us.”

‎He added:
‎”To be voted Player of the Year in my first season here is something I’ll carry with me forever. Thank you, truly.”

‎However, he made his mindset clear:
‎”I didn’t come here for individual awards, I came here to win. Same belief, same fight, same dream. Let’s go.”

‎Fernandez also addressed Rangers’ 3-2 loss to Motherwell FC, a result that affected their Scottish Premiership title push.

‎He said:
‎”But football has a way of keeping you honest. Sunday hurt. It’s still hurting. Moments like that remind you why this game demands everything you’ve got and then asks for a little more. Four games left. Everything to play for.”

‎Fernandez’s rise has also been reflected at a wider level. He has already broken into the Nigeria national football team setup, scoring on his first start after making his debut.

‎His rapid development did not go unnoticed. He earned a place in the PFA Scotland Premiership Team of the Year, standing as the only Rangers player included in the selection.
