The Super Falcons will face Sudan or Comoros in the second round of the African qualifiers for the Women’s Football Tournament at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Due to their position as the highest-ranked team in Africa, the ten-time continental champions will not compete in the first round.

The draw for the knockout phase took place on Wednesday in Cairo, Egypt. It involved 35 teams, with qualifiers structured in five knockout rounds, played in home and away matches.

The six lowest-ranked teams according to the latest official FIFA Women’s World Rankings will enter the competition in the first round. 29 teams are exempted from this stage.

The three winners of the first round will then face the three highest-ranked teams, Nigeria, South Africa and Ghana between 5 – 13 October, 2026. The remaining 26 exempted teams will also face each other. At the end of this phase, 16 teams will qualify for the next round.
