On Tuesday, March 19th, D’Tigress, Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, will discover their opponents for the Paris 2024 Olympics as the Draws for the Men’s and Women’s Olympic Basketball Tournaments are finalized.
The Draw, set to occur at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Switzerland, will be overseen by basketball icons Penny Taylor and former NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony.

While Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, unfortunately, did not qualify for the competition for the first time since the 2012 London edition, the women’s team is set for a consecutive appearance after participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
As per FIBA, the Women’s Olympic Basketball Tournament Paris 2024 Draw Principles will be determined by the FIBA World Ranking Women, along with geographical considerations.
The 12 teams will be divided into four pots based on the FIBA Women’s World Ranking. Each group will consist of a minimum of one and a maximum of two teams from Europe, while Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Oceania will each have no more than one team per continent in each group.
D’Tigress finds themselves seeded in pot 4 alongside Puerto Rico and Germany. Reigning World Champions, the United States, are in pot 1 along with China and Australia. Pot 2 includes Spain, Canada, and Belgium, while pot 3 features France, Japan, and Serbia.
