Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has released a 24-man squad for Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying double-header against Tanzania on November 13 and 17.
The squad list was unveiled via the Super Eagles’ official social media platforms on Saturday as the team prepares for two crucial Group L fixtures against the Taifa Stars.
In the goalkeeping department, Stanley Nwabali retains his place alongside Arthur Okonkwo, while Francis Uzoho returns to the team. Udinese shot-stopper Maduka Okoye misses out on the squad.
Fulham captain Calvin Bassey leads the defensive selection and is joined by Ola Aina, Bruno Onyemaechi, Semi Ajayi, Chibuike Nwaiwu, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Benjamin Fredricks and Bewene Abdullahi.

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi and Fulham star Alex Iwobi headline the midfield selection. They are joined by Lazio’s Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who returns to the team, Alhassan Yusuf, Tochukwu Nnadi, Samson Tijani and Slavia Prague youngster Mubarak Suleiman.
The attack features in-form Ajax forward Tolu Arokodare alongside Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon, Akor Adams, Taiwo Awoniyi and Moses Usor, who scored on his international debut against Madagascar.
However, George Ilenikhena, who also found the net on his Super Eagles debut, misses out on the squad this time. Victor Osimhen is unavailable due to a knee injury, while Kelechi Iheanacho is also left out despite his impressive form for Turkish side Bursaspor.
Nigeria will host Tanzania at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Friday, November 13, before travelling to face the Taifa Stars on Tuesday, November 17, with victories in both fixtures crucial to the Super Eagles’ 2027 AFCON qualification hopes.
