President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised Rangers International F.C. following the club’s Nigeria Premier Football League title success, after the Flying Antelopes finished top of the standings with 68 points from 38 matches.

‎The Enugu side secured their ninth league crown ahead of Rivers United F.C., ending the campaign as the country’s best-performing team. Rangers also maintained consistency throughout the season and delivered several decisive results during the title race.

‎The NPFL champions entered the closing weeks with momentum after important victories strengthened their position at the summit. Their defensive organisation and attacking efficiency proved vital during the run-in as they edged past Rivers United in the final standings.

‎Tinubu Hails Rangers’ Legacy

‎In a statement released after the title win, Tinubu applauded the players, coaching crew, management, and supporters for the achievement.

‎“I must also congratulate Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State on the victory of Rangers International FC. This victory is an obvious fruit of his administration’s investments in youth and sports in the state. I commend him.”

‎The President also reflected on the club’s rich history in Nigerian and African football. He referenced Rangers’ dominant periods during the 1970s and 1980s, including their appearance in the 1975 African Cup of Champions Clubs final and their 1977 African Cup Winners’ Cup triumph.

“As one of the oldest clubs in Nigeria, Rangers have produced some of the nation’s finest football players who went on to make the country proud on the global stage. I am proud of their achievement,” the President says.

‎Tinubu also acknowledged Rivers United for their strong campaign and praised their sportsmanship during the season.

‎Both Rangers and Rivers United will now represent Nigeria in next season’s CAF Champions League, with expectations rising ahead of the continental competition.
