Enugu Rangers have clinched the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title after securing a 2-1 victory over Ikorodu City in their final game at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Sunday.
The Flying Antelopes have now achieved a record-tying ninth domestic crown, making them the league’s most successful team alongside Enyimba.
Enugu Rangers came into the game knowing that victory would secure them the title. However, they needed to defeat a determined Ikorodu City side, fighting to finish in the top four.
The visitors struck first in the 30th minute as Chidiebere Nwobodo found the net in spectacular fashion to make it 1-0. The captain doubled Rangers’ advantage few minutes into the second half, giving them a 2-0 lead.

Ikorodu City pulled one back in the 58th minute through Moses Ali’s goal, setting up a dramatic final half hour. The hosts immediately made a couple of substitutions to try and force an equaliser.
However, Rangers defended resiliently to protect their precious lead, securing a 2-1 victory despite the hosts’ efforts.
The win proved crucial in the title race as second-placed Rivers United secured a 3-0 victory over Katsina United. Nonetheless, Rangers’ hard-fought win means they have won the title with a one-point lead.
It also means that Enugu Rangers, led by coach Fidelis Illechukwu, have now been crowned NPFL champions for the second time in three seasons.
