Chelsea’s search for a new striker to partner Nicolas Jackson hit a snag as Atletico Madrid reportedly rejected their €40 million offer for 20-year-old Samu Omorodion.
Omorodion, eligible to play for Nigeria, impressed on loan at Alaves last season, scoring eight goals in 34 league appearances. This drew interest from several top European clubs, including Chelsea and AC Milan.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Atletico flatly refused Chelsea’s bid, which reportedly included €30 million guaranteed with potential add-ons reaching €40 million.
“Atlético Madrid have rejected today’s formal bid from Chelsea for Samu Omorodion around €30m plus add-ons up to €40m package. Chelsea keep considering Omorodion and Jhon Durán as options for new striker. Atlético Madrid insist on their plan to keep Samu Omorodion,” Fabrizio Romano posted on X.
The La Liga giants seem determined to hold onto the promising youngster.
Meanwhile, Chelsea recently secured the signing of free agent defender Tosin Adarabioyo, marking the first transfer under new manager Enzo Maresca.
