The tension between Ademola Lookman and Atalanta has reached a new level after the club’s supporters unveiled a banner aimed at the Nigerian international, demanding he respect the shirt despite his desire to leave, Bold Sports reports.
The banner, seen outside the club’s Zingonia training base, read: “Honour the jersey, more bulls**** will not be justified.”
Lookman returned to Atalanta training earlier this week after a 15-day strike in protest of the club’s refusal to sanction his move to Inter Milan. Since returning, he has been training separately from the main group as the club and his representatives evaluate the next step to take regarding his future.
The 27-year-old forward formally submitted a transfer request earlier this month after Atalanta rejected Inter Milan’s €45 million bid. Atalanta remain firm on their €50 million valuation and have so far refused to lower their asking price.

With negotiations between Inter and Atalanta frozen for over two weeks, Lookman’s future remains uncertain. Premier League clubs are now monitoring the situation closely, with Arsenal among those aware of his availability. However, interest from England remains at an early stage, and no formal offers have been made.
Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi recently traveled to England to explore potential options for Lookman while also holding talks to sign Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz. While the club remains open to a sale, they are unwilling to allow the Nigerian to leave on terms below their valuation.
Lookman, who has been pivotal for Atalanta since joining them, has expressed his frustration with the club’s handling of his situation, accusing them of breaking promises regarding his future. In a statement released, he confirmed his intention to leave, insisting it was “the right time to experience a new adventure.”
