The transfer saga surrounding Ademola Lookman has taken a fresh twist, with indications suggesting the Super Eagles winger could be set for a return to the Premier League, Bold Sports reports.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Premier League clubs are monitoring the situation closely after Inter Milan’s pursuit of the player stalled and negotiations with Atalanta were frozen for over two weeks.

Lookman had already agreed personal terms with Inter and even handed in a formal transfer request to force through the move. However, Atalanta rejected the Nerazzurri’s €45 million bid, insisting on their €50 million valuation.

In recent weeks, Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi has been in England, primarily to negotiate the signing of Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz, but also to explore potential Premier League suitors for Lookman. While clubs in England are aware of the winger’s situation, Fabrizio notes that no talks are at an advanced stage yet.

Arsenal are among the sides monitoring developments, though the Gunners are satisfied with their current attacking options. Lookman’s profile does not entirely align with the club’s recruitment strategy due to his age, but he could become a consideration if Leandro Trossard departs this summer.

Meanwhile, Lookman has finally returned to Atalanta’s training base in Zingonia after a 15-day strike in which he refused to participate in training sessions.

The 27-year-old, who was accompanied by his father, is now facing disciplinary consequences, with Atalanta’s president and senior management set to decide on appropriate measures for his prolonged absence.

The winger’s relationship with Atalanta has deteriorated significantly in recent weeks. His decision to remove all references to the club from his social media, combined with his refusal to train, underscored his determination to leave. Despite this, Atalanta remain adamant that he will not be sold below their valuation.
