Newly crowned Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray have received fresh praise for the defensive structure behind their successful campaign, with defender Abdülkerim Bardakcı highlighting the impact of Victor Osimhen off the ball.
Bardakcı explained that Osimhen’s aggressive pressing style helped protect the team’s defence throughout the season. The Nigeria international has scored 22 goals and provided eight assists during the 2025–26 campaign. His recent displays have strengthened Galatasaray’s push toward another league title.
Speaking about Osimhen’s contribution, the experienced defender stressed the importance of defending from the front in modern football.
“Defense starts from the forwards. Osimhen is one of the best in the world in this area,” Bardakcı said.

“Yunus and Gabi (Sara) often accompany Osimhen in pressing and relieve the pressure on the defense. Thanks to Osimhen’s pressure on the opponent, the ball often doesn’t come to us…”
Osimhen has built a reputation for relentless pressing, physical dominance and aerial strength since arriving at Galatasaray. Although he plays as a striker, the Super Eagles forward consistently tracks back and disrupts opposition build-up play.
His energy also allowed Galatasaray’s defenders to maintain shape more comfortably during difficult moments. Bardakcı’s comments further reflect how highly Osimhen’s overall contribution is valued inside the squad.
