Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets head coach, Eboboritse Uwejamomere, has named a 25-man squad for the WAFU-B U17 Championship, scheduled to begin in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, on Saturday.
The five-time world champions are drawn in Group B alongside Ivory Coast and Niger Republic in the regional championship, which serves as a qualifying tournament for next year’s U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Burkina Faso will face Ghana, Togo and Benin Republic in Group A, while the Eaglets will begin their campaign on October 14. The tournament runs from October 10-23, 2026.
Uwejamomere’s squad comprises three goalkeepers, seven defenders, eight midfielders and seven forwards as Nigeria begin preparations for another attempt to dominate the regional age-grade competition.

The Eaglets are scheduled to depart Nigeria on Tuesday morning and will have eight days in Ouagadougou to fine-tune their tactical and technical preparations ahead of their opening fixture.
Nigeria will be aiming to avoid a repeat of last year’s WAFU-B U17 Championship, where the Golden Eaglets suffered a 2-0 defeat to Ghana in the semi-finals.
That defeat saw Nigeria miss the U-17 AFCON for a second consecutive edition and, by extension, miss out on the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup, marking the third straight time the five-time world champions have failed to reach the global tournament.
