The Super Falcons have commenced preparations for their 2028 Olympic Women’s Football Tournament qualifying campaign, with 14 players taking part in Monday evening’s training session ahead of their first-leg clash against Comoros.
The 10-time African champions will face Comoros at the Remo Stars Stadium on Friday, before both teams meet again at the same venue in the return leg on Tuesday evening.
The Falcons returned to the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament two years ago after a 16-year absence and will be aiming to secure another appearance at the Games, which will be held in Los Angeles in 2028.
Interim Head Coach Augustine Eguavoen has, however, had to contend with several player absences ahead of the qualifying fixtures.

Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, the Most Valuable Player of the recently concluded WAFU-B U17 Girls Cup competition in Yamoussoukro, and Favour Nkwocha, who represented the Falconets at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, have been released to join the Flamingos.
The Flamingos are scheduled to depart Nigeria on Wednesday for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
Defender Ashley Plumptre has also been excused from the squad due to a sprain and ligament injury, while Benfica duo Tosin Demehin and Flourish Sabastine will miss the matches as they pursue their resident permits.
Five-time Africa Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala has equally been excused, prompting Eguavoen to call up Belarus-based former U20 forward Blessing Okpe as her replacement.
A further 11 players are expected to join the squad, including defender Michelle Alozie, midfielders Christy Ucheibe and Jennifer Echegini, as well as captain Rasheedat Ajibade and Gift Monday.

The players currently in camp are goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma; defenders Farida Abdulwahab, Tumininu Adeshina, Valentina Uroko, Glory Edet, Shukurat Oladipo and Glory Ogbonna; midfielders Oluchi Omenazu, Joy Igbokwe, Fatimoh Solaty and Suliat Abideen; and forwards Shakirat Moshood, Blessing Nkor and Sandra John.
Expected to join the camp are goalkeepers Chiamaka Nnadozie and Comfort Erhabor; defender Michelle Alozie; midfielders Christy Ucheibe, Toni Payne and Jennifer Echegini; and forwards Rasheedat Ajibade, Gift Monday, Joy Omewa, Janet Akekoromowei and Uchenna Kanu.
