Peter Itodo scored a sensational hat-trick to power Metalist 1925 to a dominant 4-0 victory over Veres Rivne in their Ukrainian Premier League encounter on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old Nigerian forward continued his rich vein of form, taking his tally to 12 goals in 25 appearances this season and extending Metalist’s unbeaten run to four matches.
Itodo broke the deadlock in the 27th minute with a composed finish from inside the box to hand his side a deserved lead. He doubled the advantage early in the second half, calmly converting a cutback from Denys Antyukh into an empty net.
The striker completed his hat-trick just four minutes later in style, weaving his way into the penalty area before unleashing a powerful strike into the top corner to make it 3-0.

Shortly after his third goal, Itodo was substituted and replaced by fellow Nigerian Christian Mba, who added further gloss to the scoreline in the 86th minute with his fourth goal of the campaign.
The emphatic win lifts Metalist to fourth place on the table with 41 points from 23 matches, while Veres Rivne remain 10th on 26 points after the same number of games.
Metalist will look to build on their momentum when they host Kudrivka on Saturday, while Veres Rivne will aim to bounce back in their next outing against FC Oleksandriya on Monday.
