The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially declared Morocco winners of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, stripping Senegal of the title they had earlier secured, Bold Sports reports.
CAF confirmed the decision in a statement released on Tuesday night, citing Article 84 of the AFCON regulations. According to the governing body, Senegal’s walkout during the final – following a controversial late penalty awarded to hosts Morocco – constituted a forfeiture of the match.

In its ruling, CAF stated:“The CAF Appeal Board decided that, in application of Article 84 of the Regulations of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Senegal National Team is declared to have forfeited the Final Match of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 (‘the Match’), with the result recorded as 3–0 in favour of the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF).”
The decision formally awards the title to Morocco, bringing a dramatic conclusion to one of the most controversial finals in AFCON history.
