The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has instructed Shooting Stars Sports Club to shift their home matches to another stadium following concerns about their current playing surface of the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.
In a directive issued to the Ibadan-based side, the league management presented two alternative venues: the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos, and the MKO Abiola Sports Arena located in Abeokuta.
The instruction comes after the NPFL reviewed the condition of the Lekan Salami Stadium pitch and concluded that it has fallen below the required standard, particularly regarding suitability for television coverage.

The league officially informed the Oluyole Warriors of this decision through correspondence dated Friday. The letter, endorsed by NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi, outlined the reasons behind the ruling and emphasized the league’s commitment to maintaining high operational standards.
According to the NPFL, the relocation is aimed at preserving the credibility of the competition while guaranteeing that matches meet broadcast expectations. The governing body also highlighted the importance of safeguarding players, match officials, and media personnel by ensuring that games are played on surfaces that meet professional requirements.

Shooting Stars will therefore be required to stage their home fixtures at one of the two approved venues until substantial renovation work is completed on the Lekan Salami Stadium pitch and it receives proper certification from the league authorities.
The club’s upcoming home encounter will see them face Rivers United, with arrangements expected to be made for the match to take place at one of the designated alternative stadiums.
