Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho is the first player to arrive in the Super Eagles’ camp ahead of their preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scheduled to take place in Morocco from December 21 to January 18, Bold Sports reports.

The team’s training camp is based at the Renaissance Hotels in Cairo, Egypt, where they will play a friendly against the Pharaohs on December 16 as their final tune-up before the tournament.

The Super Eagles’ camp officially opened on Sunday, December 14, with players expected to begin arriving after completing their club commitments over the weekend. Uzoho was the early bird, reporting to camp at around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday.

According to the latest updates from camp, all coaches and backroom staff are already in Egypt and on ground to receive the players as they arrive.

Uzoho’s most recent outing for his Cypriot club, Omonia Nicosia, was on Thursday, when he kept goal in their 1–0 UEFA Europa Conference League victory over Rapid Wien. Omonia are not back in action until Monday night, when they face AEK Larnaca.

Based on the manager’s goalkeeping rotation policy, Uzoho is not the designated first-choice goalkeeper for domestic league matches but is preferred for continental competitions.

Other players expected to arrive early on Sunday include Chidozie Awaziem and Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, both of whom featured for their respective clubs on Friday.
