Super Falcons forward Joy Omewa continued her blistering run of form this season, netting the winning goal in Fortuna Hjørring’s 1–0 away victory over Breidablik in the first leg of their UEFA Women’s Europa Cup round of 16 tie on Wednesday.

Omewa, who has been in outstanding form for the Danish side, proved the difference once again, scoring the crucial goal that handed Fortuna a vital advantage heading into the return leg in Denmark.

The 22-year-old has now scored all three of Fortuna Hjørring’s Europa Cup goals this season, having also been on target in both legs of their 2–1 aggregate victory over Vorskla Poltava in the previous round.

Omewa’s consistency in front of goal has been nothing short of remarkable this campaign. She has scored 17 goals in 19 appearances across all competitions, including three in the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers and 11 in the domestic league, where she currently leads the scoring charts.

Wednesday’s win not only puts Fortuna Hjørring in a commanding position ahead of the second leg, scheduled for November 19, but also underlines Omewa’s growing importance to the team’s European ambitions.

Before that crucial home fixture, the Danish outfit will return to league action against OB Q this weekend, as they look to snap a three-game winless streak. Omewa, who has now found the net in 12 consecutive matches, will be eager to extend her incredible scoring streak and inspire her side back to winning ways domestically.
