Nigeria’s Flamingos will take on Italy in the round of 16 of the ongoing FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup on Tuesday, October 28, at the Olympic Stadium Annex Sports Complex Prince Moulay Abdellah, Rabat, Bold Sports reports.
The Flamingos booked their spot in the knockout stage after a convincing 4-0 victory over Samoa in their final group match, a result that secured them one of the four best third-placed finishes. Before that, the Nigerian side had endured a shaky start to the tournament, suffering back-to-back defeats to Canada and France.
On the other hand, Italy have been one of the most impressive teams in the competition so far, maintaining a perfect record in the group stage. The Italians began their campaign with a 3-0 win over Costa Rica, followed by a 3-1 victory against Morocco and a thrilling 4-3 triumph over Brazil, finishing top of their group with nine points from three games.
Both nations are yet to lift the U-17 Women’s World Cup trophy, adding extra motivation to the encounter as they aim to continue their quest for a maiden title.

In other round of 16 fixtures, Brazil will face China, the USA will go up against the Netherlands, Spain will meet France, Mexico will take on Paraguay, Canada will battle Zambia, and Japan will face Colombia.
The winner of the Nigeria vs Italy clash will progress to the quarterfinals, where they will face the winner between Mexico and Paraguay. The match is scheduled to kick off at 8:00 p.m. Nigerian time.
