Players and officials of the Super Falcons returned to Nigeria on Saturday following their 2-0 victory over Benin in the first leg of the second-round 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier held in Lomé, Togo.

Goals from Chinwendu Ihezuo and Esther Okoronkwo secured the win for Nigeria, giving the team a comfortable two-goal advantage ahead of the return leg scheduled for Tuesday at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.

The team arrived in Lagos on Saturday evening before proceeding to Abeokuta, where they are expected to hold their first training session on Sunday.

Meanwhile, their opponents, Benin, are set to arrive in Nigeria on Sunday ahead of Tuesday’s clash. An advance party, including team officials and protocol staff, arrived earlier on Saturday to finalize arrangements before the players’ arrival.

The Super Falcons need at least a draw in Tuesday’s encounter to secure qualification for the next WAFCON, which will take place in Morocco between March and April 2026.
