Nigeria’s U17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, intensified their build-up towards next month’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco with two impressive victories in friendly matches at the FIFA Goal Project, Abuja, Bold Sports reports.
On Friday, 12th September, the team secured a 2–0 win over Horvel Angels. Chisom Nwachukwu opened the scoring after capitalising on a goalkeeping error, before Kaosara Olanrewaju doubled the advantage with a composed second-half finish.
Barely 24 hours later, the Flamingos produced a dominant performance against Nazareth Angels, cruising to a 5–0 victory. Goals from Itodore Destiny, Terlumu Tabitha, and Nwachukwu, alongside two first-half strikes, underlined the team’s attacking quality and depth.

The back-to-back victories highlighted the team’s growing sharpness in front of goal and improved defensive organisation, as they continue to step up their readiness for the global showpiece scheduled for 17th October – 8th November 2025 in Morocco.
Nigeria will face Canada, France, and Samoa in Group D. Head coach Bankole Olowookere currently has a full squad in camp, offering the technical crew ample opportunity to fine-tune tactics ahead of the tournament.
The Flamingos boast a consistent World Cup pedigree, having missed only the 2018 edition. They finished third at the 2022 tournament and most recently, reached the quarter-finals in 2024.
This year’s competition will be historic as Morocco become the first African nation to host the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, now in its ninth edition.
