Former Super Eagles Coach and ex-Nigerian International Sunday Oliseh has announced his appointment to the International Football Association Board (IFAB), the global body responsible for overseeing and maintaining the laws of football.

Sunday Oliseh announced the appointment on his X (formerly Twitter) page earlier today, marking another major milestone in his illustrious football career and ongoing contributions to the global game.

“Thrilled to announce my appointment to the International Football Association Board (IFAB). IFAB is the global guardian of football’s laws, responsible for determining the laws of football, shaping the beautiful game for players and fans worldwide. Honored to contribute to its mission,” he revealed.

Sunday Oliseh’s appointment to the International Football Association Board (IFAB) further enhances his already impressive résumé in global football governance as he has contributed to football as a FIFA Technical Expert, providing insights during major tournaments like the 2022 World Cup.

The 50-year-old began his coaching career with Belgian sides Verviétois (2008–2009) and RCS VISE (2014–2015) before taking charge of the Nigerian national team as head coach in 2015. He later went on to manage Dutch club Fortuna Sittard and German outfit SV 19 Straelen.

During his playing days, Oliseh earned 55 caps for the Nigerian national team, scoring four goals, and featuring in the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups. He was also a member of the Nigerian squad that won the gold medal at the 1996 Olympic Games.

Oliseh retired from professional football following a half-season stint with Belgian top-flight club K.R.C. Genk in 2006.
