Yira Sor and Tijani Al Ameen have been added to the Super Eagles squad for the 2026 Unity Cup.

As confirmed on the official Super Eagles X (formerly Twitter) page, the Genk forward and the Shooting Stars defender will join the squad as late additions ahead of the four-nation tournament.

This comes after Swedish side AIK refused to release 18-year-old wonderkid Zadok Yohanna, who was initially invited by Eric Chelle. According to the club, the winger is in rehabilitation after sustaining an injury.

Yira Sor, who is viewed as Yohanna’s replacement, made his debut for the Super Eagles during the March International break. The pacy forward started against Jordan in a 2-2 draw, before he was substituted after 60 minutes of action.

The 25-year-old has played 42 games for Genk this season, recording six goals and two assists across all competitions. He will now be hoping to impress during the Unity Cup.

On the other hand, Tijani Al Ameen is viewed as one of the best defenders in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). He will join Shooting Stars teammate Ayobami Junior who made the initial list.

Six other domestic players were invited for the Unity Cup. They include Michael Atata, Aderemi Adeoye and Tosin Oyedokun, who all play for Ikorodu United, Chibueze Oputa and Obinna Igboke of Rangers, and Elias Ochobi of Rivers United.

Nigeria, who won the 2025 edition, will return for this year’s Unity Cup scheduled to take place from May 26 to May 30 at The Valley in London. The Super Eagles will face Zimbabwe in the semifinals, and could meet either Jamaica or India in the final if they advance.
