Xabi Alonso tags Victor Boniface as Bundesliga’s new defensive nightmare

Bayer Leverkusen manager, Xabi Alonso, has revealed that striker, Victor Boniface, will be a problem for their club’s opponents in the German Bundesliga this season.

The Nigerian striker who joined the German side from Belgian club Royal Union Saint-Gilloise for €20 million plus add-ons has featured for the Germans in the preseason and his performances have awed the former Liverpool and Real Madrid player.

His pace, agility, athleticism, and never-give-up attitude has made him a handful for defenders in preseason already, despite still trying to find his footing with his new teammates at Leverkusen.

Speaking about the Nigerian in an interview, Alonso stated that Bundesliga clubs are not yet ready for the level of threat Boniface will bring to the league and how oppressive and domineering he will be to defenders in the league.

“Victor [Boniface] is a big problem for our opponents,” Alonso is quoted saying on Europa League’s Twitter platform.

Boniface last season was a problem for defenders in not just the Belgian League but also in the Europa League where he finished as the tournament’s joint top scorer with six goals alongside Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford.
