Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface was instrumental for Beyer Leverkusen in their 3-2 away win over Hoffenheim providing the assist for the winning goal in a pulsating Bundesliga clash at the PreZero Arena on Saturday.
Boniface did not only provide the assist for the winning goal but was also instrumental for the first goal putting Florian Wirtz for the opening goal in the 9th minute. Alex Grimaldo made it 2-0 in the 45th minute.
The hosts were the better side at the start of the second half and the pressure paid off as they scored two goals in two minutes in the 56th and 58th minutes through Anton Stach and Wout Weghorst. However, Boniface once again proved to be the X-factor for his side as he once again provided the assist for Grimaldo which led to the winning goal in the 70th minute.

Hoffenheim pilled on the pressure to get an equalizer but Leverkusen’s defense was up to the task as they held on for the win and kept their unbeaten record in the league.
The Xabi Alonso-led side is currently top of the league table, two points ahead of defending champions Bayern Munich who earned a win away at Borussia Dortmund.
The two assists recorded by Boniface take his count to five in the season. He is only behind RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simmons who has the most assists this season (6). Bayern’s Harry Kane and Boniface’s teammate Jeremy Frimpong also have five assists.
Boniface was taken off in the 88th minute and replaced by Amine Adli while his national team compatriot Kevin Akpoguma saw 88 minutes of action before making way for Bambase Conte.
