‎Nigerian striker Terem Moffi will head back to OGC Nice this summer after FC Porto decided against activating the €8 million purchase clause in his loan agreement. The Portuguese champions reached the decision following the end of the 2025/26 campaign, bringing the forward’s short spell in Portugal to a close.

‎Moffi featured in 15 matches for Porto where he scored two goals and created one assist during his time at the club. He also played a role as the Dragons secured the Portuguese league title. Before his move in January, the Super Eagles forward endured a difficult first half of the season in France after incidents involving Nice supporters disrupted the squad. Despite arriving in Porto with expectations of rebuilding momentum, he failed to establish himself consistently under Francesco Farioli.

‎The 27-year-old entered the season as one of Nice’s experienced attacking options. However, events surrounding the attack on the club’s team bus in November affected several players, including Jérémie Boga and Moffi himself. Both players later sought exits from the Ligue 1 side during the winter transfer window.

‎Moffi joined Porto on loan with an option to buy. Porto included the Nigerian in several league and European fixtures, but his limited goal return did not convince the club to make the deal permanent.

‎His recent form also reflected the struggles. Moffi managed only two goals across all competitions for Porto and found it difficult to secure a regular starting role during the second half of the campaign.

‎Moffi still has one year left on his contract with Nice. However, reports in France suggest the club does not expect him to remain at the Allianz Riviera beyond the summer transfer window.

‎The Ligue 1 side will now search for another destination for the Nigerian international as they continue reshaping their squad ahead of next season.
