Nigerian striker Gift Orban is set to join French Ligue 1 side Toulouse on a season-long loan from Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim, with an option to buy, just six months after signing for the German club.
Orban was left out of Hoffenheim’s squad for their 4-0 away win over Hansa Rostock in the DFB-Pokal first round on Saturday, fueling speculation about his imminent departure.
According to Foot Mercato, the 22-year-old, who joined Hoffenheim from Olympique Lyon in the January transfer window, is now expected to return to France.
The Nigerian forward made a bright start in Germany, scoring four goals in his first six league games. However, a combination of minor injuries and poor form saw him struggle for consistency, adding just four more goals in 13 appearances for Hoffenheim.

Despite having four years left on his contract, Orban appears to be surplus to requirements and is not part of manager Christian Ilzer’s plans for the 2025/26 campaign.
Toulouse, meanwhile, are in the market for a striker, and Orban’s arrival could provide the boost manager Carles Martínez Novell is seeking.
Gift Orban first moved to Ligue 1 in the summer of 2024, joining Lyon from Belgian side Gent. He managed three goals in 16 league appearances for Les Gones before his switch to Germany.
