Defending champions Rivers Hoopers, Lagos Legends, Gboko City Chiefs, and Nigeria Customs have emerged as the top four teams from the 2025 Nigeria Basketball Premier League (NBPL) Final Eight, setting the stage for a thrilling battle for the title.
After seven days of intense basketball action at the Basketball Stadium in Niger Street, Port Harcourt, the quartet confirmed their spots in the Final Four, with Hoopers aiming to defend their crown and claim a third consecutive championship.
Lagos Legends finished the round-robin stage on top of the standings with six wins and one loss, a run that included a statement victory over Rivers Hoopers, ending the champions’ long unbeaten streak. Hoopers, despite that setback, secured second place with six wins and one loss also.
Gboko City Chiefs followed closely in third after a dramatic 63–62 win over Hoops & Read in their final game, finishing with five wins and two losses. Nigeria Customs claimed the fourth and final qualification spot after edging Kano Pillars 64–60, closing their campaign with three wins and four defeats.

In other Day Seven fixtures, Lagos Legends thrashed Nile University 93–63, while Rivers Hoopers bounced back from their earlier loss to beat Kwara Falcons 83–69, restoring momentum ahead of the title decider.
The bottom four — Nile University, Kano Pillars, Hoops & Read, and Kwara Falcons — finished fifth to eighth respectively, bowing out of the race for the NBPL crown.
The Final Four phase is scheduled to take place in three weeks’ time, where the remaining contenders will battle for supremacy and a shot at national glory.
