The first edition of Red Bull Encouraged took place on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Lagos Encourage Park, drawing what organisers described as a record turnout for a BMX event in the city.

The competition featured a mix of local and international riders and introduced a team-based format new to the Nigerian BMX scene.

Three international athletes, Garrett Reynolds, Gaspar Guendulain, and George Ntavoutian, served as team captains, each mentoring three Nigerian riders in the five days leading up to the event. The training period was aimed at improving the riders’ technical execution ahead of the main competition. The event was judged by Courage Adams, Bruno Hoffman, and Ryan Corrigan.

Riders performed a series of runs using the park’s jump boxes and street sections, with the judging panel scoring based on creativity, difficulty, and execution.

In the team category, Team George, led by George Ntavoutian, secured first place with riders Damilare Quam, Sodiq Fatai, and DC Aguma. Team Gaspar finished second, while Team Garrett placed third.

Several individual awards were also presented. The Fid’s Best Nothing Award, named in honour of Papa Fids, went to Joshua Lucky for what judges termed determination shown during his runs.

Based on average scores across the event, Sodiq Fatai finished as the highest-ranked local athlete. Emmanuel Ebuka placed second, followed by DC Aguma in third.

Organisers said the event achieved its objective of introducing a new competitive structure and providing riders with additional exposure. They added that planning for future editions of Red Bull Encouraged is already under consideration.
