Frank Umumiro’s 22nd minute earned Nigeria Premier Football League champions Enugu Rangers a 1-0 win away from home against Comoros’ US Zilimadjou in their CAF Champions League first leg preliminary match.
Despite playing away from home, the Fidelis Ilechukwu-led side was the most enterprising team in the encounter. The team were comfortable during the entire duration of the game and could have scored more goals.
Okorie Chiedozie, Agu Kenechukwu, Gerando Tekena missed golden opportunities to add to Rangers’ goal tally.
Rangers will be looking to complete the rout when they welcome Zilimadjou to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium next week.
