PSG open to Osimhen move

Super Eagles and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, is on the radar of French champions Paris Saint-Germain according to recent reports in France.

The Nigerian is expected to begin his third season with Serie A side Napoli against Verona on Monday. He had a successful 2021/22 campaign where he scored 18 goals in 32 games across all competitions for the Italian side.

The 23-year-old has been a subject of several transfer speculation this summer with clubs such as Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea, Newcastle United Bayern Munich and a host of others vying for his signature but despite several interests, Napoli has continued to hold on to the prolific Nigerian striker.

However, there’s been fresh interest from France with PSG weighing in on a transfer option for the Nigerian striker as they hope to move Argentine striker, Mauro Icardi, out of the club. The Argentine is open to a move to Manchester United according to reports in France and England.

PSG’s new manager, Christophe Galtier, was Osimhen’s manager at Lille where the Nigerian spent one hugely successful season before making an African transfer record of €81m to Napoli in the summer of 2020. Osimhen scored 18 goals in 38 games across all competitions for Lille.

Aside from Galtier, Luis Ocampos, who is PSG’s Strategic Advisor was instrumental in helping Lille sign Osimhen from Sporting Charleroi in the 2018/19 season and according to reports, he could be interested in bringing the Nigerian to Paris.
