Prosper Obah scores first Shakhtar Donetsk goal in 2-1 win over Zorya

Prosper Obah scored his first goal for Shakhtar Donetsk as they secured a 2-1 victory over Zorya in their Ukrainian Premier League clash on Thursday.

The Nigerian forward, who joined Shakhtar from LNZ Cherkasy in December 2025, finally got off the mark for his new side, scoring the opening goal two minutes into the match.

Zorya leveled the score line in the 51st minute with Navin Malysh scoring to make it 1-1. However, midfielder Artem Bondarenko netted from the penalty spot in the 82nd minute, securing all three points for Shakhtar.

The result means that Shakhtar remain top of the Ukrainian Premier League with 57 points in 24 games, six points ahead of second-placed LNZ Cherkasy with six games left to play.

Meanwhile, Zorya sit ninth on the table with 32 points after the same number of matches.

Shakhtar’s next game comes up on Sunday, April 26 when they face Kudrivka. The team are now unbeaten in six straight matches across all competitions, and will look to extend their impressive streak in the league encounter.

Prosper Obah has recorded nine goals and four assists in 23 matches this season. The 22-year-old is currently the joint third leading goalscorer in the Ukrainian Premier League.
