Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen is on the verge of receiving a massive €135,000 bonus from Serie A side Napoli when he hits a 20-goal mark for the club in all competitions this season.
Osimhen had a goal bonus inserted in his contract when he joined from French Ligue 1 side Lille in the summer of 2020. He has been unable to claim the bonus in previous seasons having been plagued by injuries, health challenges and suspensions.
The Nigerian in his first season with the Italian giants scored just 10 goals from 30 games in all competitions while missing a whooping 21 games due to injuries and suspensions. in his second campaign, he scored a total of 18 goals in 32 appearances in all competitions while missing 18 games in all competitions due to injury, suspensions and illness.
The 24-year-old is five goals away from winning the first instalment of the bonus having scored 15 goals from 20 appearances for Napoli this season.
According to La Repubblica, Osimhen will not only receive a bonus of €135,000 for scoring 20 goals in the season, he could also unlock higher financial bonuses should he score 25, 30 or more goals before the end of the season.
“The Nigerian will receive a prize of 135 thousand euros. The next two steps will start at 25 and 30, but in the meantime the first goal is in sight,” La Repubblica reported.
