Red hot in-form Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen, was on the score sheet for the seventh consecutive game for Napoli in their 2-0 win away at Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium – Città del Tricolore in a Serie A encounter on Friday.
The win sees the Luciano Spalletti-led side go 18 points clear of second placed Inter Milan who play Udinese at the San Siro Stadium on Saturday as they continue their chase for a first Serie A title in over 30 years.
In-form Georgian forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, put Napoli in front in the 12 minute while Osimhen’s goal made it 2-0 for the Partenopei in the 33rd minute of the encounter.
The goal was the 18th of the season for the Super Eagles striker in 19 appearances and his 100th senior career goals for both club and country. Osimhen has scored 15 goals for the Eagles in 23 games while he found the back of the net 20 times for Belgian side Sporting Charleroi. The Nigerian had scored 18 goals in 38 games for Ligue 1 side Lille while his goal against Sassuolo was his 47th in 85 games for Italian giants Napoli.
Osimhen was replaced by Giovanni Simeone in the 85th minute of the encounter. The Nigeria international is only two goals away from equaling Simy Nwankwo’s goals record in the Serie A.

The 24-year-old has been on the radar of some of the top European clubs such as Manchester United, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich after his impressive performances for Napoli.
