Osimhen scores 30th goal of 2022/23 campaign in 100th Napoli appearance

In his milestone 100th appearance for Napoli across all competitions, Victor Osimhen once again proved his worth by netting a brilliant brace in their hard-fought 2-2 draw against Bologna on Sunday. With these goals, Osimhen has further widened the gap between himself and Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez in the race for the coveted golden boots.

Osimhen’s remarkable season tally now stands at an impressive 25 goals in 31 league games and a total of 30 goals in all competitions. As he continues to shine, the Nigerian striker aims to etch his name in history as the first African player to claim the Serie A golden boots.

The 14th minute saw Osimhen open the scoring for Napoli, capitalizing on a goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski’s errant pass. He then completed his brace in the 54th minute, displaying his clinical finishing skills from close range before making way for Giovanni Simeone in the 66th minute.

However, Bologna fought back valiantly, ensuring a share of the spoils by leveling the score at 2-2. Lewis Ferguson and substitute Lorenzo De Silvestri found the back of the net in the 62nd and 84th minute, respectively.

Osimhen’s brace not only secured his status as the leading Capocannoniere but also places him four goals ahead of Lautaro Martinez in the goal-scoring charts. Martinez, who scored in Inter Milan’s 3-2 victory over Fiorentina on Saturday, currently boasts 21 goals in 31 league games, trailing behind Osimhen’s remarkable tally of 25 goals in 31 league appearances.
