Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has received the Globe Soccer Award’s Emerging Player of the Year award he won last year.
The Napoli striker was presented the award on Wednesday in Napoli.
The 24-year-old who netted 14 league goals in 27 appearances for Napoli last season was not available to receive his award when the ceremony held November 17 2022 in Dubai.
“Earlier today, Napoli and Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen received his Power Horse Emerging Player of the Year award for his outstanding performance during 2022.
“Victor was not able to attend the 2022 #GlobeSoccer Awards gala in Dubai on November 17th, so Globe Soccer and #PowerHorse decided to hold an awarding ceremony in Naples, Victor’s current hometown.
“Power Horse CEO, Salvatore Caizzone was joined by Cristiano Giuintoli, Sporting Director of @SSCNapoli, and Enrico Bendoni of Globe Soccer as they handed Osimhen with the Emerging Player of the Year trophy,” the organisers wrote on their Twitter page.
Osimhen also took to Twitter to celebrate receiving the award.
“Just receive(d) The @Globe_Soccer Award for the Power Horse Emerging Player Of The Year. Thank you for the recognition, and to those that have been supporting ne through the years, I appreciate y’all. God is the greatest,” he wrote on Twitter.
The Nigerian has been in blistering form this season, scoring 10 goals in 13 league games to top the Serie A scorers’ chart.
His 10th goal of the season came in Napoli’s 2-0 win over 10-man Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi Stadium on Sunday.
