Terem Moffi scored his 11th Ligue 1 goal of the season but it wasn’t enough to hand highflying Lorient the maximum points against AS Monaco in a French Ligue 1 clash on Wednesday at the Stade du Moustoir as both sides shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.
Moffi thought he had handed Lorient their 10th win of the season when he found the back of the net in the 77th minute of the encounter. The Nigeria international who received the ball from the right wing drove towards the goalkeeper, coolly slotting a shot into the low right corner for his 11th goal of the season.
However, in-form French striker Wissam Ben Yedder had the final say in the match, scoring a 93rd minute equaliser to see his side stay two points ahead of Lorient on the table. Lorient are sixth in the league with 32 points from 18 games.
Monaco had taken the lead in the 61st minute through Breel Embolo but the visitors were pegged back in the 75th minute through a Dango Ouattara header before Moffi gave the hosts the lead two minutes later.
The goal takes Moffi to second top joint scorer in the Ligue 1 alongside Neymar with 11 goals this season while Kylian Mbappe tops the list with 13 goals.
Moffi made way for Ibrahima Kone in the 85th minute while his compatriot Innocent Bonke who was shown a yellow card in the 42nd minute made way for Julien Ponceau in the 63rd minute.
