Victor Osimhen has reassured fans that his injury is not serious after scoring twice in Galatasaray’s 3-3 draw with Kasimpasa on Saturday.

The Nigerian striker, who was substituted at half time after feeling discomfort, expressed disappointment over the result but remained optimistic about future performances.

Kasimpasa came from 3-0 down to claim a 3-3 draw away at Galatasaray.

“We are unhappy as a team. We deserved three points. Football is like that sometimes. You can play the way you deserve and not win,” Osimhen said. “I am happy to score two goals. We are all unhappy because of the draw. We need to work hard and focus on winning the next match.”

Despite the draw, Osimhen highlighted his connection with teammate Mauro Icardi, emphasising the positive influence of the Argentine striker on the squad.

“We have a good relationship with Mauro. He is a leader. He protects us all. He is also a big brother to me. It is a great feeling for me to play next to him. Everyone must see that. We celebrate our goals together,” Osimhen added.

“We are unhappy with today’s result, but we will all do more. We will do better in the upcoming matches. It is a privilege to play with him.”

Addressing concerns over his fitness, Osimhen explained why he was substituted but assured fans there was no major cause for alarm.

“I do not have a serious injury. I felt a little discomfort. I thought I should tell my coach. If I reduced the team, it would be bad. I did not want my other friends’ performance to decrease. I told Mauro and the coach. That is why I left the game,” he clarified.

Nigerian fans will hope to have Osimhen fit for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations double header against Libya on October 11 at Uyo and four days later at Tripoli.
