Super Falcons striker, Assist Oshoala, has been shortlisted for the 2022 Ballon d’Or award after her impressive performance for Barcelona Femini in the 2021/22 league season.
The Nigeria international got the nomination off the back of an impressive season where she scored a total of 20 league goals to emerge as joint top scorer alongside Real Madrid’s Geyse Ferreira also helping her side reach the final of the Champions League.
Oshoala was nominated alongside teammates, Fridolina Rolfo, Lucy Bronze, Alexia Putellas and Aitana Bonmati.
Other nominated players include are Selma Bacha (Lyon), Vivianne Miedema (Arsenal), Sam Kerr (Chelsea), Christiane Endler (Lyon), Lena Oberdorf (Wolfsburg), Catarina Macario (Lyon), Alexandra Popp (Wolfsburg), Wendie Renard (Lyon), Alex Morgan (San Diego Wave), Beth Mead (Arsenal), Marie-Antoinette Katoto (PSG), Millie Bright (Chelsea), Trinity Rodman (Washington Spirit) and Ada Hegerberg (Lyon).
The 27-year-old was recently named the African Footballer of the Year for a record fifth time. She had previously won the African award in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2019.
