Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika has been named Club Brugge’s Player of the Month for September, following a series of standout performances for the Belgian giants.
The club announced Onyedika as the winner of the award on its official website on Monday.
According to the club, the 23-year-old Nigerian secured 31 percent of the fan vote, edging out Greek winger Christos Tzolis and Belgian playmaker Hans Vanaken, who finished second and third respectively.
Onyedika’s influence on the pitch has been crucial to Brugge’s midfield stability. He featured in every game for the club during September, playing a pivotal role in two victories and one draw, with the team’s only setback being a league defeat to KAA Gent.
His defensive capabilities, energy, and tactical awareness were key as he marshaled the midfield, breaking up play and providing cover for the backline.
In addition to his domestic league contributions, Onyedika’s tireless efforts were also on display in European competition. He played the full 90 minutes of Club Brugge’s 3-0 home loss to Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League. Despite the defeat, Onyedika was praised for his work rate and determination against a formidable German side.
This recognition is the latest in a series of accolades for Onyedika, who joined Club Brugge from FC Midtjylland August 2022.
