Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has continued his rich vein of form, scoring for the fourth consecutive Super Lig match to help Trabzonspor secure a 2-1 victory over Rizespor at the Çaykur Didi Stadyumu on Saturday.
Trabzonspor, who entered the game unbeaten in their last three league outings, made a blistering start as Felipe Augusto opened the scoring just two minutes into the contest.
The visitors doubled their advantage in the 19th minute through Onuachu, who rose highest to power home a trademark header, giving Trabzonspor early control of the tie.
Rizespor, however, refused to go down without a fight as Jesurun Rak-Sakyi capitalised on a defensive lapse to skip past goalkeeper Andre Onana and pull one back for the hosts in the 27th minute, setting up a tense finish to the first half.

The second half saw Rizespor dominate possession and create several opportunities to draw level, but they were undone by poor finishing and Trabzonspor’s disciplined defending. Despite the late pressure, the visitors held firm to extend their unbeaten run to four matches and clinch all three points.
The victory lifts Trabzonspor to second place on the Super Lig table with 20 points, just two behind leaders Galatasaray, who have a game in hand. Rizespor, on the other hand, remain 12th with eight points after their fourth defeat of the campaign.
Onuachu’s header was his seventh goal in the league this season, consolidating his position as the Super Lig’s top scorer as he now sits two goals clear of Mauro Icardi and Rafa Silva.
Trabzonspor will look to maintain their momentum when they face Eyüpsor in their next league fixture on Saturday, while Rizespor will seek to bounce back at home to Başakşehir on Wednesday.
