Nathan Tella provided the winning assist to help Bayer Leverkusen secure a 2-1 victory over Cologne in the Rhine Derby on Saturday.
The Nigerian International, who now has three assists this season, played a key role once again as The Werkself ended their two-game losing streak.
Leverkusen came into the game looking to close the gap on the top four. They started brightly and were awarded a penalty in the 43rd minute. Striker Patrik Schick stepped up and converted the spot kick into the bottom left corner, making it 1-0.
The visitors continued to dominate the game and were rewarded seven minutes into the second half. This time, Tella provided the assist for Schick, who made it 2-0 with a clinical finish.

Cologne raised hopes of a late comeback as they found the net in the 77th minute to make it 2-1. However, Leverkusen held on to secure victory, keeping themselves in the race for a fourth-place finish.
With three matches to play, Leverkusen will aim to continue winning in order to achieve qualification to the Champions League. Their next game comes up against Leipzig on Saturday, May 2.
Cologne, who recorded their first loss in six games, will hope to return to winning ways when they face Union Berlin on the same day.
