AC Milan have reached a verbal agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for the signing of Nigerian striker Victor Boniface on an initial loan deal that includes an option to buy for nearly €30 million, according to transfer expert Matteo Moretto.

While an understanding has been reached between both clubs, the transfer is not yet fully finalised, as discussions continue with Boniface’s representatives over personal terms and contractual details.

Negotiations are ongoing and expected to progress in the coming hours, with Milan working to complete the deal before the start of the season. Boniface is currently waiting for permission to travel to Italy to undergo his medical tests ahead of the potential move.

The 24-year-old has been viewed as Milan’s priority signing ahead of other striker options, including Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund and Sporting CP’s Conrad Harder.

Sporting reportedly lowered their asking price for Harder to around €25 million including bonuses, but for now, the Rossoneri are focused on completing Boniface’s move rather than exploring other options.

Last season, Boniface made 27 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing one assist. Before then, he was instrumental in Leverkusen’s Bundesliga title-winning season, contributing 21 goals and nine assists in 34 matches.

With just days remaining before the 2025-26 Serie A season begins, Milan are pushing to finalise Boniface’s transfer as sporting director Igli Tare prioritises sealing the deal to give Allegri his preferred striker ahead of the new campaign.
