Serie A side Atalanta are on the verge of signing Nigeria international Ademola Lookman on a permanent deal from Bundesliga’s RB Leipzig for €15m after agreement was reached between both clubs.
According to football transfer specialist, Romano Fabrizio, the former Everton forward who is already in Italy is expected to complete his medical in a couple of hours.
“Atalanta are now set to sign Ademola Lookman from RB Leipzig, agreement reached for fee around €15m. Player in Italy in order to undergo medicals and then sign the contract. Final steps to be completed in the next hours,” Fabrizio tweeted.
Lookman spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Premier League side Leicester City where he scored eight goals and provided five assists in 42 games for the Foxes in all competitions.
The 24-year-old returned to Germany for preseason but had been deemed surplus to requirement by Leipzig’s manager, Domenico Tedesco, a situation that opened him up for a loan or permanent move away from the club.
With a move to Italy, Lookman will become Nigeria’s third striker in the Series A after Napoli’s victor Osimhen and Cremonese’s David Okereke.
