Italian Serie A newcomers, Cremonese have identified Super Eagles striker, Cyriel Dessers, as a suitable addition to strengthen the team’s attack ahead of the new season.
Cremonese have already signed another Nigerian, David Okereke, from Club Brugge. Okereke had represented Venezia in the 2021/22 season scoring seven goals and providing one assist in 32 Serie A games, however, it was not enough to save the Venice-based side from relegation.
Dessers is coming off an impressive season where he finished as top scorer of the maiden edition of the UEFA Europa Conference League with a total of 10 goals from 13. He found the back of the net 21 times in 47 games across all competitions.
The 27-year-old has begun the 2022/23 season in Belgium on a bright note scoring three goals while providing one assist in two games against Club Brugge and Standard Liege.
According to corrieredellosport.it, the Nigerian has already given his word to Cremonese’s General Manager, Ariedo Braida. The Eagles striker has also indicated the desire to create a new experience in Italy and play in the country’s topflight league which is highly regarded as one of the most competitive leagues in Europe.
The striker is valued at €6m by reputable football statistics website, Transfermarkt.
