Nigeria’s Quadri Aruna maintained the 14th position in the latest World Ranking of the International Table Tennis Federation which was released this week.
Aruna who is Africa’s top ranked player has been in the 14th position since last year, continuing to dominate the continent.
The Nigerian has taken part in two competitions this year, getting to the quarter final stage of the WTT Contender in Durban, South Africa and exiting in the round of 16 stage of the WTT Contender in Doha, Qatar.
The World Ranking remained largely unchanged, with the first change coming the 40th position as China’s Qihao Zhou moved up one position to displace India’s Sathiyan Ghanasekaran who dropped to 41st.
Nigeria had only one other player in the top 100, as teenager Taiwo Mati dropped two places to be ranked 99th in the World.
China maintained their domination of the game, with Zhendong Fan, Long Ma and Chuqin Wang maintaining the top three places in the World Ranking.
In the women’s category, Fatimo Bello is the highest-ranked Nigerian player, maintaining the 64th position in the world, while Offiong Edem was ranked 124th
