Ademola Lookman has returned to Atalanta training after missing Nigeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Rwanda due to an injury.
The forward suffered a knock during the Super Eagles’ 1-1 draw against Benin Republic and was excused by head coach Augustine Eguavoen to return to Italy for recovery.
According to Italian outlet Sosfanta, Lookman participated in part of Atalanta’s training session on Thursday, signaling progress in his recovery.
The club confirmed his improving condition and hinted at his possible inclusion in the squad for their upcoming clash against Parma.
In addition to Lookman, Belgian midfielder Charles De Ketelaere also returned to training after recovering from a low-grade lesion in his left biceps femoris muscle. Both players are expected to be available for selection.
Meanwhile, Sead Kolasinac and Berat Djimsiti trained individually, while Davide Zappacosta and Gianluca Scamacca continued therapy. Ben Godfrey was absent due to illness.
Lookman’s return will be a boost for Atalanta as they look to strengthen their position in Serie A where they sit one point behind league leaders Napoli in second place. They also presently ninth on the UEFA Champions League table and play Swiss side Young Boys away from home on Tuesday.
