Super Eagles midfielder Ibrahim Olawoyin has expressed surprise at his national team selection for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin.
Stepping in for Bayer Leverkusen forward, Nathan Tella, who withdrew from the squad due to family commitment, Ibrahim Olawoyin says he is ready to prove his worth if given the opportunity.

The former Enugu Rangers player had a breakout season with Çaykur Rizespor in the Turkish Super Lig. He contributed an impressive eight goals and three assists in 36 league appearances, propelling his team to a respectable ninth-place finish.
Despite the unexpected call-up, Olawoyin is thrilled with the opportunity and vows to deliver if given the chance to play.
“It’s an incredible honor,” Olawoyin told TVC News. “I wasn’t expecting it, but I’m overjoyed. I’ve been waiting for this chance to showcase my abilities.”
“Representing the entire nation is a privilege, and I’ll definitely give my all if selected,” he added.
