Henry Onyekuru scores brace in Adana Demirspor 6-0 win

Henry Onyekuru scored a brace for Adana Demirspor in their 6-0 thrashing of Istanbulspor in a Turkish Super Lig game at the New Adana Stadium on Thursday to go fourth of the league table after 16 games.

Younes Belhanda opened the scoring for the hosts in the 43rd minute while they went 2-0 up in the 49th minute thanks to an effort from Yusuf Sari. Onyekuru got his first goal of the game in the 55th minute. Badou Ndiaye made it 4-0 in the 65th minute from the penalty spot while Onyekuru scored his second in the 79th minute to go 5-0. Gokhan Tore made it 6-0 in the 82nd minute to hand the hosts their biggest win of the season.

The goals takes Onyekuru’s tally to six in the season from 15 league games while he’s provided two assists. After starting the new year with a brace, the 25-year-old would be hoping to add to his tally when they travel to face Istanbul Basaksehir on Monday.

Reacting to the game, the Nigeria international says he’s excited to help his team get the maximum points and scoring a brace in the process, “Starting the new year how we want to continue. All praises to the most high. Grateful to get my brace for the team.”

Onyekuru’s compatriot, David Babajide was an unused substitute.
