German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt and Italian Serie club Salernitana are battling for the signature of Nigeria international Paul Onuachu who has been in superb form for Belgian table toppers Genk.
The lanky Super Eagles striker has been in superb form for the Blauw-Wit (Blue-White) this season finding the back of the net 14 times in 18 appearances. His performance has been the reason for Genk’s position on the table.
With a game in hand, six points ahead of second placed Royale Union Saint-Gilloise and a game against RFC Seraing on January 29, Genk would already be thinking of league glory at the end of the season but according to reports, Onuachu may be on his way out of the club in January.
Italian publication tuttomercatoweb.com has revealed that the former FC Midtjylland player and West Ham United target is already in negotiation with Frankfurt while there is persistent interest from Salernitana who need a proven goal scorer to save their season in the Serie A.
“Genk centre-forward Paul Onuachu is negotiating his transfer to the Bundesliga. The Nigerian striker – 14 goals in 18 Jupiler Pro League games – is also being probed by Salernitana – is in talks with Eintracht Frankfurt.”
Joining Salernitana would not be a suitable option for Onuachu as the Italians want to get him on loan with the option of a permanent deal at the end of the season while Frankfurt are in the race for a permanent deal.
